Tumor Suppressor Genes

They normally suppress the tumour formation and therefore the disease appears only when the active gene is lacking or both the alleles are lost.

They function by putting some constraints in the cell cycle.

When these genes are absent, the constraints on the cell cycle are released leading to the formation of tumors.
