Biology has two basic branches - Botany and Zoology. Botany is the study of plants while Zoology is the study of animals.
Botane (Greek) means plants. Zoon (Greek) means animals.
The science of biology is so vast and extensive that biologists divide it into several branches to facilitate the study of living organisms and their relationship with other living and non-living entities.
Like in any other branch of science, in biology too it is possible to distinguish the classical (or pure) branches and applied branches. In addition, we can recognize a few interdisciplinary branches, which use knowledge and technique from other branches of science.
