• Science is the way by which a person gets at the truth or at least as close to truth as possible.

• The basis of science is its orderly stepwise procedure - the scientific method.

• Scientific method employs various procedures such as, accurate observation, asking questions about the observation and finding out possible answers to formulate a hypothesis.

• Whether the hypothesis is right or wrong can only be decided by putting it to a test or experimenting. It requires scientific skill, careful collection of data, their analysis and interpretation.

• Any experiment conducted without running a control becomes invalid.

• If a hypothesis is experimentally proved and tested by repeated experiments, it is changed into a theory.

• A theory may or may not be approved by scientists. It may be subjected to modification as more and more additional information is gathered.
