| International Efforts For Conserving Biodiversity |

| The earth summit held in 1992 at Rio de Janeiro resulted in a convention on biodiversity, which came into force on 29th December 1993. The key objectives of the conservation are: |

| ii) Sustainable use of biodiversity |
| |
| iii) Fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilisation of genetic sources |

| IUCN and WWF are among the leading international organisations concerned with biodiversity conservation. |
