has the ability to grow and regenerate.
 
cannot live in isolation i.e., shows interdependence with other biotic and abiotic factors of the environment.
 
resemble their parents and has a definite life span.
 
ensures continuity of its race through transmission of characters to its offsprings through the process of reproduction.
