The Chaparral Biome

Also referred as 'Mediterranean scrub forest' extends along mediterranean, pacific coast of North America, South Africa, South and Western Australia and Chile.

Biome is characterized by dry summer with frequent bush fires and very limited winter rain. Humid air from the oceans keeps the temperature moderate.

The vegetation is composed of small trees and large shrubs that bear small, evergreen, thick and succulent leaves containing a waxy coating on their surface. Common plants are oak and eucalyptus. They are distinctly aromatic.

Consumers are mainly rodents and reptiles.
