Food Production

Production of Vitamins
Vitamins can be produced on industrial scale by microorganisms.

For e.g.,

Riboflavin (B2) can be produced by Ashbya gossypii, Eremothecium ashybii

Cobalamine (B12) cause produced by bacteria propioni bacterium, Pseudomonas denitrificans, Bacillus megatherium, Streptomyces oleaceus

a - Sorbode - a precursor of vitamin C can be produced from Acetobacter.

Production of Organic Acids
Many industrial organic acids can be manufactured from large scale culture of microbes.

Acetic acid is produced by bacterial fermentation of ethyl alcohol by Acetobacter bacilli.

Lactic acid is produced by bacterial fermentation of lactose by Streptococcus lactii

Citric acid is produced by fermentation of sugar by Aspergillus niger.
