Forests cover large number of species on a limited geographical area. But, crops cover small number of species on vast geographical area. While forests are natural, crops are cultivated with man's interference. |

| Crops of world are restricted to less than 100 species of plants that are cultivated by man for several hundreds of years. Cultivation of crops is called agriculture. Agriculture is the main source of food, fodder and many industries and therefore forms the important part of economy of any nation. |
