Causes of Extinction of Wildlife
Wildlife species may become totally extinct if no measures are taken to protect them. Some of reasons for extinction of wild life are.
 
a) Destruction of their natural habitats - by environmental pollution, deforestation, soil erosion, overgrazing, increased urbanization, forest fires, and developmental works.
 
b) Indiscriminate hunting
 
Example: Cheetah is extinct in India
 
c) Introduction of exotic species.
 
d) Over exploitation of natural resource.
 
e) Disturbance in migratory routes.
 
f) International trade in rare animals.
 
g) Lack of education.
 
Strategies of Conservation of Wild Life
1) Protection and encouraging their breeding.
 
2) Preservation of their habitats.
 
3) Regulation on hunting.
 
4) Ban on international trade in rare animals.
 
5) Stopping overexploitation of useful products from wildlife.
 
6) Establishment of national parks and sanctuaries to protect wild life.
