Menopause

It is the period when ovulation and menstrual cycle stops in human female. It sets in about 45 - 55 years.

It is characterised by hot flushes, which is a sensation of warmth spreading from the trunk to the face and a number of psychic symptoms.

It is caused due to a decrease in the estrogen level.

In males, the function of the testes declines slowly with advancing age due to decrease in testosterone secretion and it is called as male climacteric.
