| Uses of Sulphuric Acid |

| 1) In manufacture of fertilizers |
| |
| Sulphuric acid is used in the manufacturing process of fertilizers such as ammonium sulphate, super phosphate of lime, etc. |

| 2) In chemical industry |
| |
| It has a wide variety of use in the chemical industry. It is used for the manufacturing of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, metal sulphates, ether, pigments, plastics, films, cellophane dyes, drugs, glue, disinfectant, perfumes, paper etc. |

| 3) In explosives |

| It is used for manufacturing of explosives such as nitroglycerine and tri-nitro-toluene (T.N.T.). |

| 4) In petroleum industry |

| Sulphuric acid is mainly used to remove sulphur and tarry compounds in the petroleum industry. |

| 5) In metallurgy |
| |
| Sulphuric acid is used for the extraction of copper, purification of gold, pickling of metals before coating with tin, zinc, enamel etc. |

| 6) In storage batteries |

| Sulphuric acid acts as an electrolyte medium in the accumulators especially for use in automobiles etc. |

| It is used as a reagent, a drying agent and as a dehydrating agent. |
