In the reactions shown by isocyanide, first an electro phile and then a nucleophile add at the carbon to form a species which usually undergoes further transformations.

i) Addition of water
Acid catalyzed addition of water gives alkyl formamide derivative.
ii) Reduction with LiAlH4
With LiAlH4 as well as on catalytic hydrogenation, isocyanides are reduced to N-methylamines. The -NC group gets reduced to -NH (CH3) group.
iii) Oxidation
Isocyanides are oxidized to isocyanates on reaction with HgO or with Ozone as well as with a halogen and DMSO (dimethylsulphoxide).
