Begin by writing as fast as you can for five minutes. Write anything that comes to your mind. What you write may not make sense, but that does not matter. No one is going to read that. Write fast. Do not stop a moment. If you cannot think of anything to write, just write, "I cannot think of anything to write", over and over again until something occurs to you. This free writing should loosen up your mind and your pen so that you will write more freely.
Now try another kind of free writing.
Write for five minutes as fast as you can, but this time stick to one subject may be the given subject -say sports. Do not worry about spelling, punctuation or even complete sentences. Do not change the topic.
It will let you see what material you have and will help you figure out what aspect of the subject (what topic) you have to write about.
Getting started is always the hardest part. You could try some of these other 'pump-primer' techniques.
