     The story 'Tribute' traces the process of repentance that starts for Babuli when he receives a letter from his elder brother about the partition of his village property amongst the three brothers.

Cutie Pie

     In Cutie Pie, the author describes the capture of an extra-terrestrial creature and his experiences on earth. The emphasis is on the basic human connection between the infant Winters and Cutie Pie, the E.T. creature.

The Letter

     'The Letter' is a touching story of an old man who is all alone and waits for his only daughter's letter for five long years. He receives that letter only at his grave but for that he pays a price.

     It is a heart-rending narration about the flight of war victims to seek refuge in a neighbouring country through a long journey all along the Kruger Park. The story is set in war-torn Mozambique.

     Poet communicates an experience. The poet's communication is received by our senses. The senses consist of seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling and touching. The poet has to create an image to stimulate any of these senses.

Ode to the West Wind

     The poet ends with the hope that the west wind will carry the poet's words over the entire universe and be the trumpet of his prophecy.

The Frog and the Nightingale

     The other creatures loathed his voice but their complaints, insults and brickbats couldn't stop him from croaking stubbornly and pompously, insensitive to the disturbance he was causing.

     In this poem, the mirror is the speaker. It is an autobiographical poem. The mirror talks about itself, its surroundings and the woman who uses it. In this way, it gives its observations in an objective way without any personal bias.

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

     The first two parts describe how the old sailor (Ancient Mariner), defying laws of hospitality, cruelly kills a sea bird - an Albatross, and is then haunted and followed by the spirit of Albatross.

     Scrooge is a miser. He makes his clerk, Bob Cratchit work hard for him, but pays him very less. In fact, he hates giving him a holiday even for Christmas. He does not believe in Christmas and calls it 'humbug' (meaning 'nonsense').
