Jumbled Sentences

Introduction

Proper sentences are divided into phrases. These phrases are jumbled. The student is expected to look at the jumbled phrases, comprehend the meaning implied, and put the sentence in order.

Jumbled Sentences

Read the following phrases. Rearrange them to form a sentence.


Example

/that / lived in / halls / I dreamt / I / marble

1. Identify the subject.

I dreamt.

2. Identify the action.

Lived in halls.

3. Make the sentence.

I dreamt that I lived in marble halls.


Example

/are given to/ cannot be/ people who/quarrelling/happy

1. Identify the subject.

People who

2. Identify the action.

Are given to quarrelling

3. Make the sentence.

People who are given to quarrelling cannot be happy.


Example

as if/ was in a hurry /he worked/he/

1. Identify the subject.

He worked

2. Identify the action.

Was in a hurry

3. Make the sentence.

He worked as if he was in a hurry.


Example

what you/if you/I/you will get/want/ do as/say

1. Identify the subject.

You will get

2. Identify the action.

If you do

3. Make the sentence.

You will get what you want if you do as I say.


Example

She was/ of her youth/ at that time/in the prime/

1. Identify the subject.

She was

2. Identify the action.

In the prime of her youth

3. Make the sentence.

She was in the prime of her youth at that time.

                       Or
