Quadratic Equations

Introduction
An equation of the form ax2+bx+c=0 where a, b, c are real numbers

Examples:

(1) 2x2-1 = 0

(2) x2-5x+7 = 0

The solution to quadratic equations can be found using various techniques. One of them being, graphs.

Example:

The application of quadratic equations also finds its use in the structure of a suspension bridge.

The figure shows the Golden Gate bridge in San Fransisco in the United States.

The shape of each suspension cable can be approximated by using either of the quadratic equations.

where x and y are measured in meters.
