Divisors or Factors

Divisor or factor is a number which divides the given number witout leaving any remainder.

Note : 1 is a factor of every number. Every number is a factor of itself.

Test for Divisibility

Statements of divisibility by Lemma where a, b and c are integers.

• If a divides b, then a divides bc for all c.
• If a divides b and b divides c, then a divides c.
• If a divides b and a divides c, then a divides sb + tc for all s and t.
• For all c 6= 0, a divides b if and only if ca divides cb.
