Gravitation

Introduction

Astronomy has been a fascinating subject from ancient times.

The geocentric system (around the 2nd century A.D.) considered the Earth to be at the centre with the sun and other planets revolving around it.

In the 16th century, Copernicus suggested the heliocentric system according to which, the sun was in the centre and the other planets revolved around it.

Later, Kepler (17th century) after analysing detailed information on the movements of planets, deduced three laws of planetary motion.

Newton studied Kepler's laws and along with his observation of the falling apple, stated his Universal Law of Gravitation.
