At this time in history most people born in the US never got farther than 20 miles from their place of birth. #2 I would add also that while the town people admire her needlework, she is never asked to do needlework on wedding veils. #3 Pearl is pretty much an imp. A fairy child. This is a great description, but it doesnt sound like the words of a high school student. #4 Hester also has contradictory feelings toward Pearl. On the one hand, her name is Pearl because Hester had to pay a big price to have her daughter. On the other hand, she sometimes wonders if Pearl is not the living punishment of her sin. #5 Exactly. This is where we also realize (usually) that Dimmesdale is the father, the way Hester appeals to him to let her keep her child. #6 Perfect.
