Seeing Race And Seeming Racist? Whites Go Out Of Their Way To Avoid Talking About Race - ScienceDaily (Oct. 7, 2008) — White people – including children as young as 10 -- may avoid talking about race so as not to appear prejudiced, according to new research. But that approach often backfires as blacks tend to view this 'colorblind' approach as evidence of prejudice, especially when race is clearly relevant. In The Race To The Top, Zigzagging Is More Efficient Than A Straight Line - ScienceDaily (Feb. 26, 2008) — A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it isn't necessarily the fastest or easiest path to follow. That's particularly true when terrain is not level, and now American and British researchers have developed a mathematical model showing that a zigzag course provides the most efficient way for humans to go up or down steep slopes. 'People recognize that zigzagging, or switchbacks, help but they don't realize why they came about.' Llobera, who is interested in reconstructing patterns of movement within past landscapes, said the model and a study that describes it stem fr....

The Concept of RaceIn this Hitchcock Lecture from UC Berkeley, evolutionary geneticist Richard Lewontin reviews a number of studies on the genetic differentiation between individuals within local populations, of local populations within classic geographical races and between races. He shows that almost all human genetic variation is contained between individuals within any local population and that the consequences of repeated migrations, invasions, and mixture between groups destroys any clear racial boundaries. Question : Talladega? Richmond? Darlington? I strongly think he will get a win before the Sprint All Star Race (only 3 more point races until then). It wouldn't be a shocker if he won a couple of them actually. Out of the 3, I'd have to pick Talladega this weekend. He is always strong there, and can pilot any car to victory around that place I think. (I know he has only 1 Cup win @ Dega, but he has like six 2nd places as well) *Also, Happy 4-20 to NASCAR Nation* = ) Jr Nation needs a good ..

Answer : I kind of pictured his first win coming around mid June. But I have a feeling that once he does win, he will dominate the next 3 or 4 races after that. LOL 4-20. I totally forgot about that! I bet it's been 10 years since I celebrated the holiday. I guess I don't hang out with as much potheads these days.

Question : For my future six weeks i have to run track races every tuesday and thursday. What should i do on Wednesday? i really want to get better. What should i do on friday, saturday, sunday and monday. I want to train for maximum results. Please be detailed in your answer. I ran a 6:16 on March 11, 2008. That is for the mile.

Answer : I expect you already have some training, if not for next season this is how I would start out: if I am starting from scratch without any training, I will run very long distances, but building it up. Don't start running 7 miles everyday if you are only currently running one mile a day. Slowly build up your miles over the course of 2 or 3 weeks. This is called your 'base' and this type of training gives you your endurance and stamina. By your third or fourth week, you should start doing some speed workouts on the track, like 800m's, 400m's, 200m's. Do these type of workouts two to three times a week while still running distance so you don't lose your base. Another way way to bulid up speed and some stamina is to do hill repeats: find a challenging hill, and run it easy 30 seconds, medium 30 seconds, and then hard 30 seconds. I consider this '1 hill' and by the time I am about 6 weeks into my training, I do about 3-4 'hills' for a workout. Also remember that anytime you do a hard workout..
