biology : Biology, also referred to as the biological sciences, is the study of living organisms utilizing the scientific method. See also: Plants & Animals Biochemistry Research Developmental Biology Evolutionary Biology Biology Genetics Cell Biology Biology examines the structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution of living things. It classifies and describes organisms, their functions, how species come into existence, and the interactions they have with each other and with the natural environment. Four unifying principles form the foundation of modern biology: cell theory, evolution, genetics and homeostasis. Biology as a separate science was developed in the nineteenth century, as scientists discovered that organisms shared fundamental characteristics. Biology is now a standard subject of instruction at schools and universities around the world, and over a million papers are published annually in a wide array of biology and medicine journals. Most biological sciences are ....   More from Science Daily

biology : Molecular biology is the study of biology at a molecular level. See also: Health & Medicine Genes Human Biology Medical Imaging Plants & Animals Biochemistry Research Genetics Molecular Biology The field overlaps with other areas of biology and chemistry, particularly genetics and biochemistry. Molecular biology chiefly concerns itself with understanding the interactions between the various systems of a cell, including the interrelationship of DNA, RNA and protein synthesis and learning how these interactions are regulated. Researchers in molecular biology use specific techniques native to molecular biology, but increasingly combine these with techniques and ideas from genetics and biochemistry. There is not a hard-line between these disciplines as there once was. Molecular biology is the study of molecular underpinnings of the process of replication, transcription and translation of the genetic material. The central dogma of molecular biology where genetic material is transcribed into....   More from Science Daily

Question : hey guys im stuck on these 2 biology questions i need some help really bad so if you can please help me. 10points and best answer. thanks so much(if its not to much to ask please explain as simple as possible it gets confusing if there is to much information) Explain why we are still piecing together a picture of how human evolution occurred, and how is it possible that our understanding of it might be flawed? What are three advantages of using scientific names for organisms?

Answer : 1) Some of the fossils we would need to link humans to previous species are too old to carbon date. Also, we have only found fossils of some of the species involved in our evolution. Even if the DNA is similar, it is impossile to say whether that particular species evolved into humans today. 2) *Scientific names are universal, meaning everone calls a specific species by a specific name, prevents confusion. *Using scientific names, you can see the relationships between organsism, meaning if they are in the same genus, you know they are related. *I can't think of a third, sorry... there's gotta be tons of reasons..   More from Yahoo Answers

Question : I am taking AP Biology during my junior year, and they are haveing us read 4 chapters(120 long pages) in our Biology textbook, as well as complete a question sheet for each chapter. I am on my third chapter, and stuck on my last question. (How has molecular biology helped to clarify some of the relationships between living things?) Can anyone help me please?

Answer : Molecular biology studies the molecules that make up living organisms. If organisms have the same molecular structure, they would be classified closer together than organisms that don't share similarities. For example, yeast and humans have many similarities, yet major differences...   More from Yahoo Answers
