The Proton
Since the atom is electrically neutral there had to be positively charged particles present in the atom to neutralize the negative charge of the electron..
Proton
The proton has a mass equal to that of hydrogen atom, which is equal to 1.67 x 10 - 2 4 g or 1.0073 amu while it has an unit positive charge of +1.602 x 10 -19 ..
The Standard Model of Particle Physics (Part 5): Electrons, Protons And Neutrons. --- www.youtube.com www.youtube.com --- The Standard Model of particle physics is a theory of three of the four known fundamental interactions and the elementary particles that take part in these interactions. These particles make up all visible matter in the universe. Every high energy physics experiment carried out since the mid-20th century has eventually yielded findings consistent with the Standard ...
Davisson and Germer experimentBefore confirming the name matter wave, we are required to understand the structure of particles (both charged and uncharged). Charged particles (electron, proton etc) have a standing- electric field and magnetic field in right angle regardless of any kind of its motions.Charged particles act as a tiny bar magnet with a negative charge. Uncharged particle like neutron has only a standing magnetic field.Because of the standing field lines, a particle cannot ...
Question : What about ions such Na+ and CI-? Does Na+_ repel Na+ and does CI- repels CI-?But if they do repulse each other how come the lattice could be formed. Another example: SDS coats protein with negative charges but when SDS bind to protein, wouldnt the adjacent SDS repulse each other causing it to be separated from the protein?
Answer : CL and Na by themselves are neutral charge, when they bond together or when they are in aqueous solution the Na gives up an electron to the Cl to cause them to become charged (or ionizes them). The repulsion and attraction forces form electromagnetic charged is very weak compared to covalent bonds and that is why they SDS don't separate each other form the protein. Water is a -2 oxygen and 2 +1 hydrogens and those hydrogens do repel each other but not enough to separate each other from the water molecule...   More from Yahoo Answers
