We have seen the application of matrices and determinants in solving system of linear equation with three unknown variables. Matrices and determinants are also widely used in solving large system of linear equation. Some of these methods are Gauss-elimination method, Gauss-Jordan method e..

Question : For example, would "The actual cost of a student's textbooks for a given semester" represent discrete variables or continuous variables?
Answer : Discrete "If a variable can take on any value between two specified values, it is called a continuous variable; otherwise, it is called a discrete variable." Between $10.99 and $11.00, there is no valid value for cost, so cost cannot take values between those two specified values. So according to that above definition, it is not continuous. Nowhere is it written that discrete variables only take integral values. Alternatively if you use cents as the unit of cost, then cost can only take integral values. That could never be true of a continuous variable. I maintain that cost is discrete...   More from Yahoo Answers

Question : True or False? A variable is discrete if each of its values is distinctly different from the value that follows it.
Answer : Yes, that's basically it, although it's a rather complicated definition. Simply put, a variable is discrete if it can only take only take a certain range of values. An example of a discrete variable is shoe size. You can't get a shoe size 7.535452 for example. Shoe size can only take the range of a whole number, or a whole number in conjunction with a half number, such as your shoe size being "7 and a 1/2"..   More from Yahoo Answers
