Elementary mathematics - Elementary mathematics consists of mathematics topics frequently taught at the primary or secondary school levels. The most basic topics in elementary mathematics are arithmetic and geometry. Beginning in the last decades of the 20th Century, there has been an increased emphasis on probability and statistics and on problem solving. In secondary school, the main topics in elementary mathematics are algebra and trigonometry. Calculus, even though it is often taught to advanced secondary school students, is usually considered college level mathematics. A mastery of elementary mathematics is necessary for many professions, including carpentry, plumbing, and automobile repair, as well as being a prerequisite for all advanced study in mathematics, science, engineering, medicine, business, architecture, and many other fields. In the United States, there has been considerable concern about the low level of elementary mathematics skills on the part of many students, as compare....

Elementary algebra - Elementary algebra is a fundamental and relatively basic form of algebra taught to students who are presumed to have little or no formal knowledge of mathematics beyond arithmetic. While in arithmetic only numbers and their arithmetical operations (such as +, −, ×, ÷) occur, in algebra..

geometry - geometry [Gr.,=earth measuring], branch of mathematics concerned with the properties of and relationships between points, lines, planes, and figures and with generalizations of these concepts. Types of Geometry Euclidean geometry, elementary geometry of two and three dimensions (plane and solid geometry), is based largely on the Elements of the Greek mathematician Euclid (fl. c.300 BC). In 1637, René Descartes showed how numbers can be used to describe points in a plane or in space and to express geometric relations in algebraic form, thus founding analytic geometry , of which algebraic geometry is a further development (see Cartesian coordinates ). The problem of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface was solved by Gaspard Monge, who invented descriptive geometry for....

Algebraic geometry - Algebraic geometry is a branch of mathematics which, combines abstract algebra, especially commutative algebra, with geometry. See also: Computers & Math Mathematics Math Puzzles It can be seen as the study of solution sets of systems of polynomials. When there is more than one variable, geometric considerations enter and are important to understand the phenomenon. One can say that the subject starts where equation solving leaves off, and it becomes at least as important to understand the totality of solutions of a system of equations as to find some solution; this does lead into some of the deepest waters in the whole of mathematics, both conceptually and in terms of technique.. Geometry - Geometry arose as the field of knowledge dealing with spatial relationships. See also: Computers & Math Mathematics Math Puzzles Geometry was one of the two fields of pre-modern mathematics, the other being the study of numbers. In modern times, geometric concepts have been extended. They sometimes show a high level of abstraction and complexity. Geometry now uses methods of calculus and abstract algebra, so that many modern branches of the field are not easily recognizable as the descendants of early geometry.. Question : I find the things i learn math WAY to easy and my teacher isn't going to let me take advanced math until next year so i thought to myself, hey if i can't learn algebra at school then why not at home? I did some research and learned to start with elementary algebra. I also learned how to add, subtract polynomials. So can any1 help/teach me elementary algebra? i at least need a website or somthin

Answer : Just look for the next year's book.

Question : Could someone help me with questions #11, #12, #13, and #26? http://www.rlc.dcccd.edu/testcenter/accureview.pdf #11, I know the answer is 4sqrt(2), but I don't understand how to get the 4? I know it's 2 * 2 to get the 4 but why is it 2 * 2? Could someone list another example to help emphasize the explanation? All the questions Im referring to are under the section labeled 'Elementary Algebra'

Answer : 11. sqrt(32) = sqrt(16*2) = sqrt(16) * sqrt(2) = 4 * sqrt(2) You can just factor a sqrt(16) out of the sqrt(32) and since it equals 4, you are left with 4*sqrt(2). 12. sqrt(24 a^3 b^6 c) = sqrt(4) * sqrt(a^2) * sqrt(b^6) * sqrt(6ac) = 2 * a * b^3 * sqrt(6ac) 13. [ (-2 x^3 y^-3) / (3 a^6) ] ^ -2 [ (-2 x^3) / (3 a^6 y^3) ] ^ -2 [ ((9 a^12 y^6) / (4 x^6)] 26. (2x + 1) + (2x + 3) + (2x + 5) = 51
