Question : I've read a lot of stuff on eye color genetics. It usually focuses on dominant and recessive genes like a brown eye color will overpower the blue and green eye color gene. And a green will overpower a blue. But in my case my mother has green eyes and my dad has baby blue eyes and I got teal eyes?? I've read nothing that explains inbetween colors.

Answer : "In-between" colors happen because things such as hair color, eye color, and skin color are all controlled by multiple alleles. Therefore other colors are possible. Things such as attached earlobes vs. unattached earlobes, however, are not contolled by multiple alleles, therefore there is no "in-between"..   More from Yahoo Answers

Question : I know blue eyes are recessive and brown eyes are dominant. But what about green eyes? Are they dominant or recessive? If you have a family that has mostly brown eyes, is it possible to have blue eyes? How does eye color get determined?

Answer : Green eyes are recessive. If no one in your family has blue eyes (and I mean not a single person) then you will not have blue eyes, since they are recessive. If most people in your family have brown eyes but a few have blue eyes (your parents, grandparents etc), and you have brown eyes, then you will carry the brown dominany plus the blue recessive, so if you mary someone with blue eyes or with family members with blue eyes, then there is a 75% chance your children will have brown eyes and a 25% chance the will have blue eyes. If you both have blue eyes there is still a chance of your children having brown eyes if you carry the dominant brown. If you both carry 2 dominant browns, then there is no chance you will have blue eyed children. If you carry 2 recessive blues and your husband carrys a recessive blue and a dominant brown, there is still a chance you can have brown eyed children since brown is dominant.
