Question :

Answer : How complex a progression? How many times? At the same pitch level or different pitch levels? If it repeats just once, then it simply a repeated harmonic progression. If it repeats at least three times, each time at different pitch levels, it could be a sequence. If it repeats over and over again, it could be a chaconne or passacaglia, if it is a sufficiently long progression, or if it's a short one, a rock song. :-) An ostinato technically is a repeated melodic pattern but under certain curcumstances a repeated harmonic pattern may also be so-called. Question : A sequence of quantities whose reciprocals form an arithmetic progression, such as 1, 1/3, 1/5, 1/7, ....is it correct?

Answer : A harmonic sequence is defined as a progression of terms whose reciprocals form an arithmetic progression. In your example 1, 1/3, 1/5, 1/7, the reciprocals are 1, 3, 5, 7 which is an arithmetic sequence, so the example is a harmonic progression. Correct..   More from Yahoo Answers
