Question : I would like to know if this class called analysis( advanced calculus ) is very very hard. I am taking introduction to advanced mathematics , where these topics are covered: (naive set theory, functions, cardinality, sequences of real numbers and limits. Emphasis on formal proofs.) How hard was the analysis class when you took it? was it like hell ? what about abstract algebra.
I ask this because i dont want to be messing with the wrong major. I like math but when i see the kind of problems..
Answer : calculus starts off with limits normally, and then continues to derivatives and integration.... When you get higher up in calculus you might also be doing line integrations, gradients, and some other stuff, but its not too bad because you work you're way up gradually. I thought the 4 calculus's were fairly easy (except calc 2). I haven't taken advanced calculus, though i did take some classes that go further in depth. It's all personal preference though, theres a lot of people who don't like and struggle with calculus. also take into the consideration what job opportunities you would get from having a major in mathematics. Most like you will have to be a teacher or a professor. (there maybe more opportunities that I dont know about though).. More from Yahoo Answers
