Organism
An organism, may be small unicellular or multicellular. Organisms have a fixed life span and organised life cycle comprising of birth, growth, maturity, old age and death. They are always derived from pre-existing ones through the mechanism of repr..
Water Cycle or Hydrological Cycle
Water is an indispensable commodity of life. Water determines the distribution, structure and function of organisms in the ecosystem. Water occurs in three phases - solid, liquid (ice/snow) and gaseous (water vapour). In liquid phase it is vital for the existence of life..

life cycles of organisms : A life cycle is a period involving one generation of an organism through means of reproduction, whether through asexual reproduction or sexual reproduction. See also: Plants & Animals Fungus Soil Types Developmental Biology Mating and Breeding Biology Zoology In regard to its ploidy, there are three types of cycles; haplontic life cycle, diplontic life cycle, diplobiontic life cycle. These three types of cycles feature alternating haploid and diploid phases (n and 2n). The haploid organism becomes diploid through fertilization, which joins of gametes. This results in a zygote which then germinates. To return to a haploid stage, meiosis must occur. The cycles differ in the product of meiosis, and whether mitosis (growth) occurs. Zygotic and gametic meioses have one mitotic stage and form: during the n phase in zygotic meiosis and during the 2n phase in gametic meiosis. Therefore, zygotic and gametic meiosis are collectively term haplobiontic (single mitosis per phase). Sporic meiosis, o....   More from Science Daily
  - Contemporary art slide show projected on storefront window, viewed only at night. - This slide show normally runs for about 20 minutes for one complete cycle with each image shown for about 8 seconds. In this documentation the video fast forwards to show one full cycle in about 2 minutes. The landscape image is a photo of an area in Newfoundland near where I grew up. The succession moves to a more painterly rendition much like Group of Seven impressionist painting. The image keeps changing ...
The microscopic life in an italian lake (Lago di Candia). Algae and Protozoa are a vital part of the aquatic ecosystem, providing food and shelter for other organisms. As a major part of the world's biodiversity, they contain a vast array of different biochemistries, morphologies and life cycles. What is more, they are often spectacularly beautiful under the microscope. ... microscope algae bacteria biology protists microscopy protozoa animal diatom water pond life amoeba ...
Question : Explain how the alternating of meiosis and fertilization in life cycles of organisms maintains the normal chromosome number of that organism.
Answer : meiosis creates 1 egg and 3 pollar bodies which makes the egg big enough for a baby to develope with 23 chromosomes and the other 3 are a waist product egg and sperm have 23 so that when they come together a person has 46 chromosomes..   More from Yahoo Answers
