Union of sets
If two sets are given, a set can be formed by using all the elements of the two sets. Such a collection is called the union of the given sets..
Operations on Sets
The Operations on Sets are: Union of sets, Intersection of sets, Disjoint sets, Difference of two sets (Relative complement), Symmetric Difference of two sets, Complement of a set..
  Hello everybody :), Upon request I have made this video to explain the basic concepts of Set Theory: -definition of set -difference from multiset -union -intersection -set subtraction -empty set -subset, superset -equals -DeMorgans Law Enjoy :) Have a beautiful day!
  Mission A Star brings you our second feature film. Confused about set theory? No idea how union intersection and complement work? Let esteemed maths genii Arnold Schwarzenegger and Luka Modric guide you through these tricky concepts.
Question : Well, I have a multiple question test on this topic, and I really ought to understand the questions rather than guessing. The question is:
Which of the following is the definition of the union of Two sets A and B?
Now I know the answer is:
A B = {x|x A x B}
But I will be greatful if someone here could explain in step by step on how to do this question.
Thanks in advance.
Answer : One time I tried to convince my little brother to spell that "greatful" instead of "grateful", but for once he was right and I was wrong! I am refusing to use the symbols you need on yahoo answers, since i don't have time to type them, but I will answer in English and you can replace the symbols I hope A (union) B = {x | x (in) A (or) x (in) B} Practically, to find the union of two sets you combine them. Set A can be {1,2,3,5,6} and set B can be {4,5,6,7} so combined you get {1,2,3,4,5,6,7}. Notice you don't give 5 two times. To interpret the definition - If some x is in A then it is in AUB. If some x is in B then it is in AUB. Therefore 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 are in AUB. I hope that makes the definition clearer!..   More from Yahoo Answers

Question : this is 8th grade math. set theory and such.
the problem says find the union and the intersection of the sets. the two sets are
P={positive multiples of 2}
and M={even integers} how would i work that out? or whats the answer?
arent they both the same? just phrased differently?
and the other is
J={reciprocals of 1,2,3 and 4}
and R={squares of 1,2,3 and 4} i know what each set equals. i just dont know how to find the union and intersection. thanks in advance
Answer : Not exactly clear what your question is. It would have helped if you posted your best answers. Union is all of the members of all of the sets. Intersection is only the members shared by all of the sets. 1. The union of P and M = M. The intersection = P. (M includes negative even integers.) 2. The union of J and R = {1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 4, 9, 16}. The intersection = {1}...   More from Yahoo Answers
