Question : I have seen planets and a view stars through my telescope. However the only deep sky objects I have seen is the Pleiades (M45) and Orion nebula (M42,43). I wanting to see Andromeda galaxy (M31) , some galaxies around the constellation virgo, omega centauri, beehive cluster, crab nebula (M1), jewel box cluster (NGC 4755) and whirlpool galaxy (M51) and helix nebula (NGC 7293).
Answer : Most galaxies are impossible to see from urban areas, there's just too much light and air pollution to compete with. You probably could see the core of M-31 and it's companion M-31, but they'll be a pale shadow of what would appear in a telescope at a dark site. M-87, M-49 and a few other Virgo cluster galaxies might show up, but you won't be impressed. From a dark site you would see M-87 and swarms of other galaxies around it. I cannot see the Jewel Box from my location but it would likely be hard to find from your area. The Helix is out of the question, even with a nebula filter because Singapore is one of the most light polluted and densely populated places on Earth. The nebula has a magnitude of 6.5 but is spread out across an area more than half the diameter of the full moon. Nebula filters also do not work on galaxies and star clusters because they emit light across the whole spectrum whereas nebulae emit only a few wavelengths of light. Instead, try planetary nebula such as NGC-....   More from Yahoo Answers
