How Noise And Nervous System Get In Way Of Reading Skills - ScienceDaily (July 14, 2009) — A child's brain has to work overtime in a noisy classroom to do its typical but very important job of distinguishing sounds whose subtle differences are key to success with language and reading. See also: Mind & Brain Language Acquisition Perception Child Development Neuroscience Intelligence Tinnitus Reference Auditory system Dyslexia Learning disability Tinnitus But that simply is too much to ask of the nervous system of a subset of poor readers whose hearing is fine, but whose brains have trouble differentiating the 'ba,' 'da' and 'ga' sounds in a noisy environment, according to a new Northwestern University study. 'The 'b,' 'd' and 'g' consonants have rapidly changing acoustic information that the nervous system has to resolve to eventually match up sounds with letters on the page,' said Nina Kraus, Hugh Knowles Professor of Communication Sciences and Neurobiology and director of Northwestern's Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory, where the work was pe....

Physicist Reads Solar System's History In Grains Of Comet Dust - ScienceDaily (Jan. 8, 2008) — Four years ago, NASA's Stardust spacecraft chased down a comet and collected grains of dust blowing off its nucleus. When the spacecraft Comet Wild-2 returned, comet dust was shipped to scientists all over the world, including University of Minnesota physics professor Bob Pepin. After testing helium and neon trapped in the dust specks, Pepin and his colleagues report that while the comet formed in the icy fringes of the solar system, the dust appears to have been born close to the infant sun and bombarded by intense radiation from these and other gases before being flung out beyond Neptune and trapped in the comet. Question : A) 3x-2y+12 2x+y=8 B) x-y+z=11 3x+3y-z=1 x+y+2z= -9

Answer : A) I'm assuming that the first equation is 3x-2y=12 not +12. 3x - 2y = 12 --> 3x - 2y = 12 (2)(2x + y) = 8(2) --> 4x + 2y = 16 (add to get rid of the y) 7x = 28 (solve for x) x = 4 Then plug in 4 as x in one of the original equations to find the y. 3(4) - 2y = 12 12 - 2y = 12 -2y = 0 y = 0 So the answer to A) is x = 4 and y = 0 or (4, 0) B) x - y + z = 11 3x + 3y - z = 1 x + y + 2z = -9 3x + 3y - z = 1 --> 3x + 3y - z = 1 3(x + y + 2z) = -9(3) --> 3x + 3y + 6z = -27 (subtract to get rid of x & y) -7z = 28 (solve for z) z = -4 Then plug -4 for z in first and second equations. x - y + (-4) = 11 x - y = 15 3x + 3y - (-4) = 1 3x + 3y = -3 (3)(x - y) = 15(3) --> 3x - 3y = 45 3x + 3y = -3 --> 3x + 3y = -3 (add to get r..

Question : 2x - y = 5 y = x - 3 I Know I Need Graph Paper . That`s All I Know . So Can Sumone .. Anyone .. Please Explain It To Me .

Answer : You need to graph both equations as linear functions. Use: y=2x-5 and y = x-3 Use a chart to graph two or more points for each function so that you can draw both lines on the paper. The solution is the point where both of them coincide (y=-1 , x=2), you can also obtain those values by solving the equation system. Hope it worked for you, bye.
