Question : I have a worksheet that says to dilate the triangle by a scale factor of 3. Thats the first question on the paper. Problem is I dont know how to find the scale factor. The triangles on a grid but is maybe their a equation to figure it out?

Answer : has it given you a point???....e.g s.f 3 around point 4,2??? if not pick a point i usualy go with 0,0 say if you go up 1 square and over 2 squares to get to the first corner of your origional shape and its s.f 2 u then from point 0,0 go up 2 squares and over 4 squares...   More from Yahoo Answers

Question : The volume of a cylinder is 88 cubic inches. A smaller container, similar in shape, has a scale factor of 1/2. What is the volume of the smaller container? If someone could not only give me the answer, but also explain to me HOW they did the problem, that would be great!

Answer : 11 in . The scale factor is 1/2 for length The scale factor is (1/2)^2 = 1/4 for area The scale factor is (1/2)^3 = 1/8 for volume. Then: Volume of the smaller container = = 88 * (1/8) = 11 cubic inches. Bye bye and Good Luck...   More from Yahoo Answers
