Question : Could someone please explain the grading system, extracurricular activities, timetables, classes and what time school starts and ends?
I know that students attend juku or cram schools and that you have to take exams to enter high school.
I need this for a manga I'm making, which probably won't be out for a few years.

Answer : you enter elementary school at age 6. grade1 to 6 there. junior high school at age 12. grade 1 to 3. high school at age 15. grade 1 to 3. you have to take exams to enter every high school, private elementary schools or private junior high schools. every school starts in April and ends in March in a year. satrts around 8:30 and ends around 4 in a day. July 20th to the end of August is summer holiday, Christmas to around January 7th winter holiday, March 20th to April 7th spring holiday. but these are not always the case. schools in northern cities have shorter summer vacation and longer winter vacation. 30 to 40% of students attend juku...
