Answer : Why wait, get started now! Take the fast track, I can have you taking care of patients within a few months. Go visit your local volunteer fire and rescue department. Most of them are usually understaffed. They usually pay for training to become an EMT. Classes are usually held in the county you live in and are once or twice per week for 3 months. After being certified you will volunteer to work one night every 5 to 7 days at the volunteer fire department. You will be with experienced EMT's manning the ambulance. Usually you will need to be at least 16 and have your parents permission. since you are under 18 they usually won't let you stay at the fire department overnight, they will kick you out around 10:00pm.
