Question : My teacher taught us today about electroyotes and conductivity, but i keep getting confused, can anyone explain to me the effect that the concentration of solute has on the conductivity of an electrolyte solution? Thanks!

Answer : Water on it's own does not conduct electricity. This is because it does not have any free or loose electrons floating around in solution (like how metals have electrons that are not firmly bound to any one atom). When you add electrolytes to water, there are more and more electrons that can convey current through the solution. The more electrons you have in the solution, the more conductive it will be. Hope this helps. Ps there might be a point where too many electrolytes reduces conductivity, but I'm not sure. Also I'm pretty sure the relationship between electrolyte concentration and conductivity is not linear. Maybe check this out later
