Canon Definition

CANON defined as "Original, official" is a general rule or principle, law or standard by which people are judged or a member of the clergy living according to these principles or laws. Canon is all about authoritative standards—for literature, sainthood, or behavior. The word is derived from Hebrew and Greek means something straight, or something to keep straight; also a rule, or something ruled or measured. Canon, comes from the Greek word kanōn, meaning "rule." A collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine. ‘the biblical canon’ it is most often found in the senses of  "an accepted rule," "a rule or law of a church," or "a sanctioned or accepted group or body of related works."
