Satire Definition

Satire is the use of sarcasm, comicality, overemphasis, exaggeration, or mockery to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or immoralities. Satire is a way of mocking at people and making fun by using silly pointless or exaggerated language. Politicians are one such easy targets of satire, especially when they act virtuous or hypocritical.

Satire’s an extremely wide-ranging category. The “or” in the definition is key – most satires are hilarious, sarcastic, ironic, and overstated, however they only have to be one of the aforementioned to be counted as satire.
