# List of Prime Numbers

The numbers which are divisible only by one and itself and are bigger than one, are known as prime numbers. In other words, a prime number is a positive number (greater than 1) which does not result in integer when divided by other than 1 or itself. The method of testing a number for being prime is known as primality test.

The simplest primality test is "successive division" according to which, we start dividing given number (say n) starting from 2 to $\sqrt{n}$ and check for the divisibility. If it is divisible by any number other than 1 or itself, then it is not a prime number, otherwise that number is prime.

There exist infinite number of prime numbers. The list of first 100 prime numbers is given below:
