Let us solve some examples of metric conversions:

Example:
Convert:

1) 5 mm scale into inches
2) 7 square foot into sq. inches

Solution:
1) 1 mm = 0.03937 inches

=> 5 mm = 5 $\times$ 0.03937

= 0.19685

2) 7 square foot into sq. inches

1 square foot = 144 sq. inches.

7 square foot = 7 $\times$ 144

= 1008 sq. inches.
