The important properties possessed by a rhombus are as follows:
  • All sides are equal.
  • Opposite angles are equal.
  • It has 4 sides, 4 vertices, 4 internal angles and 2 diagonals.
  • Both diagonals of rhombus bisect each other.
  • Diagonals also intersect each other at right angles.
  • The sum of any two adjacent angles of a rhombus is $180^{\circ}$.
  • Every rhombus is a parallelogram, but not each parallelogram is a rhombus.
  • A rhombus has symmetry along the diagonals.

Area of a rhombus can be calculated if the length of both diagonals is known. The formula of area of rhombus whose diagonals are $d_{1}$ and $d_{2}$, is given by:
Area = $\frac{1}{2}$ x product of diagonals = $\frac{1}{2}$$\ d_{1}\ d_{2}$
