# Dividend of a Division Problem

Introduction to Dividend of division problem :-

In mathematics, especially in elementary arithmetic, division (÷) is the arithmetic operation that is the inverse of multiplication.

Specifically, if c time’s b equals a, written:

c x b = a

Where b is not zero, then a divided by b equals c, written:

a/b = c.

In the above expression, a is called the dividend. (Source: Wikipedia)

## Step by Step Process of Dividend of a Division Problem:-

In following steps for how to dividend and division of 20 by 2 problem

Step 1:-

-------
2 | 20

In the above equation 2 is divisor and 20 is dividend. In the divisor has two decimal numbers put the value dividend of  20.

Step 2:-

10
-------
2 |  20
20
---------
0
--------

Normally divide the values one by one the right value has 0 means directly divided by two digits. In 2 x 10 = 20 the divisor number 2 is multiplied with 10 to get an answer 20.In 20 is equal to 20. So use the values then subtracts the value and get remainder is 0.

## Example Problem for Dividend of a Division Problem

423 divided by 13

Solution:

In following steps for how to divide and division of 423 by 13 problem

Step 1:-

-------
13| 423

In the above equation 13 is divisor and 423 is dividend. In the divisor has two decimal numbers put the value dividend of 42.

Step 2:-

3
-------
13| 423
39
---------
33

In 13 x 3 = 39 the divisor number 13 is multiplied with 3 to get an answer 39. In 39 is less than from 42.So use the value then subtract the value and get 33.

Step 3:-

32
-------
13| 423
39
---------
33
26
----------
7

In 13 x 2 = 26 the divisor number 13 is multiplied with 2 to get an answer 26. In 26 is less than from 33.So use the value then subtract the value and get 7.

Step 4:-

32.5
---------
13| 423
39
---------
33
26
----------
70
65
----------
5

The value 7 has no more value in the right side. So put 0 to get 70 and put decimal point on the quotient. Then normal dividing 13 x 5 = 65 the divisor number 13 is multiplied with 5 to get an answer 65. In 65 is less than from 70.So use the value then subtract the value we get 5.

Step 5:-

32.53
-----------
13| 423
39
---------
33
26
----------
70
65
----------
50
39
----------

11 (continued)

Repeat the step again put zero we get 50 have no more value in the right side. Then normal dividing 13 x 3 = 39 the divisor number 13 is multiplied with 3 to get an answer 39. In 39 is less than from 50.So use the value then subtract the value again we get 11. Finally we get an answer 32.53
